Customs consultants who deal with the operations of companies that will work with abroad or who will take / buy products from abroad are responsible for a wide range of customs deposits. Customs consultancy obligations include all customs clearance procedures and providing logistics
Declaration: This means that the products or goods arriving at / leaving customs are declared to the customs administration under the procedures laid down in the Customs Act. Declarations made without sufficient attention to the procedures and issues laid down in the Customs Act may be incomplete or incorrect. High penalties may be imposed for making low or false declarations.
Inspection: Goods arriving at / leaving the customs are submitted to and declared by the customs office. After the declaration is submitted to the customs, the goods or products are now under the supervision and control of the customs. Using electronic systems, the customs administration classifies these goods as high-risk or non-risk goods according to various criteria. Goods classified as risky are subject to investigation, i.e. customs control, depending on the risk.
Yellow Line: The customs administration controls (inspects) the product or object with its power of control over the goods. The official in charge of the customs department who uses this power is called the inspection officer. "Yellow Line Inspection" means the comparison and control of the customs declaration and the documents used to make the declaration. The particulars in the customs declaration and the documents accompanying the declaration shall be compatible and consistent.
Red Line: Customs inspection is not always carried out for documents only. It is important that the customs declaration and the documents attached to the declaration are compatible with each other. However, in some cases (for goods classified as risky), the customs administration can carry out a more detailed check on the product or object by personally comparing the declaration and the documents attached to the declaration with the product or object. A customs control carried out in this way is called a Red Line Inspection.
Customs brokers are a kind of foreign trade advisers to foreign trade experts. They should inform foreign trade experts about how customs procedures are to be carried out in terms of legislation and technical aspects and what results they will achieve.
Customs consultancy companies: When selecting a customs broker, preference may be given to a customs consultant who specialises in the characteristics of the goods subject to the target trade; or the customs offices where the customs procedures take place and the location of the foreign trade specialist to be processed.
Depending on the location: Customs agents can choose a location according to the business habits of their customers. It is possible for a customs agent to choose a location for his business according to the document collection procedures or in the vicinity of the customs administrations. Important is what type of service the foreign trade specialist requires from the customs agent.
According to price: One of the most important points to consider when choosing a customs consultant is the price. Customs agents work according to the minimum wage set annually by the Ministry, depending on the rules set out in the customs act. In the case of transactions with a lower amount than this tariff set by the Ministry, a penalty is charged for these transactions. It is not legally possible to conduct business and transactions lower than the announced tariff.
Follow-up of legislation: When choosing a customs consulting company, it is helpful to pay attention to the level of knowledge of the legislation. Customs legislation has a dynamic structure that can change daily. In this case, the preference for customs consultants who comply with the legislation on a daily basis avoids undesirable costs.
Technology: Customs and customs agents use technological infrastructures very effectively. A customs consultancy firm must make a minimum investment in the use of technology at the level determined by the practices of the ministry in order to file declarations and customs procedures. This level represents an important bar. Apart from this level, there are also customs consultancies that use some technological infrastructure to meet the needs of foreign trade experts.
